Where to Use VEIL Smart Privacy Film: Offices, Hotels, Homes & More

Smart privacy film is one of those products that quietly solves a problem most spaces have without a good answer for: how do you get natural light and an open feel, without giving up privacy the moment you need it? VEIL's PDLC (polymer-dispersed liquid crystal) film switches a glass surface between clear and frosted at the flip of a switch — no blinds, no curtains, no film to peel back. Here's where it actually earns its place.

Offices and meeting rooms

Glass partitions look great until someone needs a confidential call or a sensitive meeting. VEIL lets a glass-walled office or conference room stay open and bright by default, then go private in an instant — no need to install blinds that just get left half-closed and dusty.

Hotels

Bathroom-to-bedroom glass partitions are a popular design choice in boutique and luxury hotels, but they only work if guests can actually get privacy on demand. VEIL film on shower enclosures or bathroom dividers gives hotels that open, high-end look in marketing photos while giving every guest a private stay.

Homes

From home offices with interior glass walls to ensuite bathrooms and street-facing windows, VEIL lets homeowners keep sightlines open through the day and switch to full privacy in the evening — or the moment they want it — without sacrificing natural light.

Clinics and hospitals

Patient privacy is a real regulatory and comfort concern in healthcare settings. VEIL is well suited to ICU observation windows, consultation rooms, and any clinical space where staff need visibility most of the time but full privacy during exams or sensitive conversations.

Retail and showrooms

Fitting rooms, VIP areas, and back-of-house spaces in retail environments can use VEIL to switch between an inviting, transparent storefront feel and a private space as needed — useful for pop-up changing rooms or exclusive shopping experiences.

How it works

For a deeper look at how PDLC smart film works, including what happens at the molecular level and how it compares to permanent frosted glass, see our full guide.

VEIL runs on low-voltage AC power (60V) through a small transformer or controller. Powered on, the liquid crystal particles inside the film align and the glass turns clear. Powered off, they scatter light and the glass turns a frosted, opaque white. Switching happens in milliseconds, and along the way the film also blocks over 99% of UV and about 60% of infrared heat, helping protect interiors from sun damage and cutting solar heat gain.

VEIL is cut to order in three clarity grades (85%, 88%, and 96% light transmittance) and two mount types — self-adhesive for retrofitting existing glass, or laminated for new installations. See the full VEIL product page or message us on WhatsApp with your dimensions for a quote.
